Introducing the Rated Oracle
London Jun. 14th, 2023 – Today, we’re thrilled to announce the launch of the Rated Oracle and soon a dedicated space for it launching under oracle.rated.network
At Rated, part of our core mission is to build the most complete view of Ethereum infrastructure and to help power downstream applications with that data . The launch of the Rated Oracle Powered by UMA [ROPU] gets us one crucial step closer to realizing this vision.
The Rated Oracle is designed to power a thriving ecosystem on-chain ranging from financial derivatives to liquid staking protocols; it was built to serve a multitude of needs, as it renders any data that Rated curates in its database, available on chain.
Our oracle is designed with safety in mind, and that is why we integrated with the UMA Optimistic Oracle V3 in the backend. As Rated data is brought on chain, it is first kept in escrow and rendered available for a validity dispute during a pre-determined challenge window. If by the end of this period there is no dispute mounted, it then becomes accessible to the final consumer. This mechanism allows the Oracle to improve its fault-tolerance profile as observers are incentivised to dispute the data, if it were to be faulty as it is brought on-chain.
For a deeper dive into how the Rated Oracle works, head to the technical documentation available in the Rated documentation hub.
We are also delighted to announce that we are rolling out the Rated Oracle with an integration with ETHx, a Liquid Staking protocol launching soon on Ethereum Mainnet by Stader Labs. By serving reports of MEV theft committed by validators of the ETHx set we will help the protocol enforce a strong MEV smoothing policy, and ultimately to uphold its guarantees to its stakeholders.
