Launching support for Polygon PoS

London, Dec. 20th, 2023 – Rated begins its multi-network journey with the launch of support for the Polygon PoS chain, on the Rated Explorer and API. Learn more about the feature set that makes up this landmark release in this blog.

Making Rated a multi-network facility has always been core to our vision and mission since inception. We simply cannot imagine a world where validator (and other agents) sets are securing hundreds of billions of dollars in asset and transaction value, without an independent, well articulated, and transparent view of their composition and effectiveness.

To that end, today marks a milestone release and the day that Rated is officially multi-network, launching support for Polygon PoS—together with a series of all new features.

The release bundles support for Polygon PoS on the Rated Explorer, the Rated API, as well as our documentation hub. We’re also thrilled to announce that all the views are powered by our all new real-time engine.  In the following sections we dive a bit deeper into what each of those entails.

If you would like to see a network supported on Rated, please leave your feedback at feedback.rated.network or get in touch with us via hello@rated.network.

The feature set: Rated Explorer

Starting today, the Rated Explorer indexes Polygon PoS, at feature parity with the Ethereum product. This includes the following views:

  • Validators: This is a list view of the active set of Polygon PoS validators and their key statistics, including their APR% and their Rated Validator Effectiveness Rating (RAVER), with drilldowns enabled, all in real time.

  • Delegators: A list view of each of the 24,000+ delegator addresses and their overall statistics in terms of stake and stake distribution, APR%, aggregate effectiveness, rewards and so on. The drill-down in each address produces a screen where one can survey the summary stats of the aggregate of delegations mapping to said address, a real time rewards view, and a table that breaks down the delegation on a per validator basis. Delegator addresses can be navigated to via the search bar at the top of the explorer.

  • Network overview: This is the highest level view of the network; it summarizes overall network health, rewards reference rates, as well as validator set and delegator set overviews.

The feature set: Rated API

The value of the Rated API for Polygon PoS starts where that of the Explorer reaches its limits. Similarly to the Rated API for Ethereum, Polygon support allows developers to work with all the data we curate for Polygon PoS; start developing reporting applications, custom dashboards, and compliment your monitoring stack with an outside-in, real-time view, today.

The feature set: Rated Docs

As with all of our releases, this one comes with a rich update to the Rated docs. It includes explainers on all the features supported on the Rated Explorer, as well as an extensive section on methodologies, where we cover how the Rated Validator Effectiveness Rating (RAVER) and APR% are computed on Polygon.

Why Polygon PoS

Polygon PoS is an ideal landing pad as we instantiate the multi-network vision for Rated. It has a strong validator active set, a vibrant execution layer with material value secured atop it, a diverse set of delegators, and an exciting technical roadmap that leads the industry in many respects. It is also “close to home” having ⅓ of the consensus layer be Ethereum based.

With this release, we are bringing independent monitoring, observability and ratings for the Polygon PoS active set. More specifically we are enabling:

  • For validators: a way to signal operational excellence, performance monitoring and benchmarking against peers, as well as offer an outside view of the liveness and performance of their own infrastructure.

  • For delegators: making better informed delegation decisions, reviewing their own delegation performance, managing rewards, viewing validator commission rates and so on.

  • For pools & active set managers: reviewing validator performance for onboardings, SLAs and offboarding from active sets.

  • For network researchers: monitoring network health, driving insight into research and development, and further improving the network.
